Afghan Silver Antique Hamsa Pendent - Evil Eye
These antique Afghan pieces are hand made in Afghanistan and inlaid with real Turquoise, Lapis Lazuli, Coral and/or Carnelian. Many of the larger pieces also have inlays on the back side of the pieces.
The Hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many times throughout history, the hamsa is believed by some, predominantly Jews, Christians and Muslims, to provide defense against the evil eye or evil spirits. Its also known as the hand of Mariam, hand of Fatima, hand of God, hand of Buddha, but all generally have the same meaning to word of evil spirits.
As these are hand crafted items, each piece is unique and individual. Where we have stock, you will get one very similar to the one pictured. Many of the items are only available in limited quantities and will be gone once they are all sold.
